Cavaliers Hire Mike Brown as Head Coach
Return of a Familiar Face
The Cleveland Cavaliers have hired Mike Brown as their head coach, the team announced on Friday. Brown, who previously coached the Cavaliers from 2005 to 2010 and again during the 2013-14 season, led the team to the NBA Finals in 2007.
Dynamic Duo
Brown's return to Cleveland marks a reunion with LeBron James, who played under Brown during his first stint with the team. The duo led the Cavaliers to the NBA Finals in 2007, but could not overcome the San Antonio Spurs.
Past Success
During his first tenure with the Cavaliers, Brown compiled a record of 272-138 (.663). He was named Coach of the Year in 2009 after leading the team to a league-best 66-16 record. Brown also coached the Los Angeles Lakers from 2011 to 2014 and the Sacramento Kings from 2016 to 2017.
